The FEEVA and FVE General Assembly has adopted the position paper on End of Life for Horses. The veterinary profession believes that all Equidae (horses, donkeys, etc), being sentient beings, deserve to be cared for in a responsible way from birth to death.
This is a situation that calls for an updated professional veterinary argument for when and why euthanasia should be seen as an obligation, in which euthanasia is being recognised as an acceptable option, crucial to horse welfare when it is in the horse’s best interest.
